William Wayne Sanders

William (Bill) Sanders, DOB 1/6/41, died at his home 8/2/13.  He was born in Nebraska to Wayne and Ruth Sanders. They moved to Phoenix in 1943 and Bill graduated from West High School.  He attended Phoenix College and graduated from the Police Academy.  Bill served as a police officer for 20 years, first as a patrol officer, then motorcycle officer, and finished his career as a detective for the Organized Crime Bureau.  After retirement, Bill worked for 16 years for the Attorney General’s office in the Special Investigation Unit as a special agent.  He was very proud of his service in Law Enforcement. Bill’s favorite pastimes were cowboys, horses, and rodeos.  His specialty was calf roping and he was pretty good at it, once winning All-Around Cowboy at the Police Rodeo in Phoenix.   Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Dorolee, and nephew Colton.  He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Steve(Philana), stepchildren Alison, Suzanne and Benjamin and grandchildren Chelsea, Clay, Max and Ryan.  He is also survived by his sister Jayne, and brothers Bob and Jim.  Services will be Thursday at 10:00 at Best Funeral Home at Peoria and the 101 freeway.  Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery.

One Memory to “William Wayne Sanders”

  1. mary novotny says:

Bill was such a good guy. I loved his sense of humor…..he was a pretty quiet man, but then would come up with something so clever and funny.
God bless you Bill and may you rest in peace.
